TITAN (Atlas Converting Equipment Ltd.) is pleased to confirm a robust sales performance for its range of slitter rewinders in the Americas region during 2008. Sales were particularly successful during Q4 in the USA and Canada.
 
A new customer from the labels industry based in the US mid-west confirmed an order for 2 TITAN CT610 automatic turret slitter rewinders together with one SR8 twin-shaft cantilever slitter for high volume production of various types of labels. Several other TITAN cantilever slitter rewinders were also sold to other North American converters towards the end of last year. 


 
Four of TITAN’s more compact slitting & rewinding solution, the ER610, were sold to Oben Licht Holding Group with headquarters in Lima, Peru where two of the machines were commissioned at their new plant facility in Lima in April 2008 for slitting plain, metallized and extrusion coated OPP films. The third ER610 slitter is due to be installed in Lima in April this year and the 4th ER610 slitter will start production at their production site near Buenos Aires, Argentina around the same time.


 
The addition of a new film production line in Argentina has increased the Group’s production capacity to approximately 100,000 metric tonnes of BOPP film per annum, with Oben Licht now one of the largest producers of polypropylene film in South America. The group, with production facilities in Peru, Ecuador and Argentina and distribution centres in Colombia, Venezuela and Brazil, supplies film to all countries in Latin America.
 
The TITAN ER610 machine was also the preferred choice of several other converters in Mexico last year. TITAN’s other top selling cantilever slitter rewinder, the SR8, was chosen by many main stream converters of flexible packaging materials in Mexico as well as a producer of specialty self-adhesive tapes in South America, installed at the end of last year.

TITAN is perceived as a global market leader in high performance slitting & rewinding technology for plastic film, flexible packaging materials, laminates, labelstock and paper. The highly versatile TITAN SR8 cantilever slitter rewinder is the most successful in its range with up to 1,800 mm (72”) web widths, laser core and auto knife positioning, 800 mm (32”) rewind diameter and running at up to 700 m/min. (2,300 ft/min.) More than 180 machines have been sold to many different converters worldwide since its launch, covering a wide range of flexible materials applications.

The more compact TITAN ER610 is an innovative, lower cost slitting & rewinding solution which extends the TITAN portfolio by addressing the needs of smaller converters which produce lower volumes of flexible materials. This environmentally friendly slitting & rewinding solution also helps to make a contribution towards the reduction of carbon emissions, thereby helping to protect the environment with reduced power consumption, no hydraulics and un-lubricated compressed air.
 
More fully automated solutions include the successful TITAN CT610 automatic turret and the SMA900 fully automated slitter rewinders, both for very high production volumes. All TITAN machines have the benefit of Bobst Group’s customer service & support operations based at locations across the Americas, which also assisted with the installation and commissioning of some of the equipment.
